My College Morning Routine

It amazes me how during high school I could wake up at 6:30 to do my makeup before school, go to school for 8 hours, participate in extracurriculars until 5:00, do homework, eat dinner, and be in bed by 9:00 - 10:00 pm. College is a completely different story. I used to struggle waking up at 7:30 to be on time to my 9:00 am class (I commute so factor in the time to actually get to campus and then walk to class). Today I am going to be sharing with you my morning routine, something that has helped me become a more productive person throughout the day.
My day begins at 5:30 am when my alarm goes off (after sleeping in everyday of winter break I am still trying to get used to getting up early). I make my bed, brush my teeth, and get dressed for the gym. I workout for about an hour. At 7:00, I am out of the gym and headed home. Most days, I stop by buying breakfast on my way home. By 7:30, I am home and ready to shower. I shower, eat breakfast, and prep my backpack for class (filing up my water bottle, making coffee, packing a lunch or snack). If I have extra time in the morning, I do a little studying. Depending on what time my class starts, I am out of my house by 8:30 - 9:00.
Following this routine has really changed my college experience. I established a schedule for myself and have pushed myself to follow it. I spent months paying my gym membership and not going simply because I didn't have time (turns out I was wrong and the real reason was laziness). Now, I go to the gym 3-4 times a week. As Elle Woods said, "Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy." The way you start your day defines how your entire day will be. No matter what time you wake up, try to establish a routine for yourself. You will notice a difference in your daily attitude and productivity!
